Hi!
I'm going to US and will take my iPhone 4 with me.
My local operator charges a lot for roaming (about $2.5 for incoming calls per minute, $1.5 for local outgoing, $2.5 outgoing to my country, $0.5 for an SMS and $15 for 1Mb  ) so maybe somebody could advise me if there is some prepaid SIM (preferably Micro SIM but I can "make" it "micro" myself as well) so I can make local calls (to AT&T mostly) and send some international SMS for less than those prices I wrote.

Thank you :)

First things first: is your phone locked or not? If it is factory unlocked, you can pop in any SIM card.
If it is locked, what is the modem firmware (a.k.a., baseband) on your phone?
If it is higher than 1.59, you won't be able to use a jailbreak/software unlock. No, you can not downgrade the baseband. Basebands are immovable.
