I'm in line and store manager is telling us about stock, they have almost no Gold (0 verizon 16gb for example), minimal silver (less than 5 in most models), and a decent stock of space gray.

Manager said the same thing to me, so I changed my order to a Quarter Pounder and got it right away. Was in the wrong line! I'm so stupid!

Depends on model, they said they had to use a couple for display models, and others they have VERY limited stock, so depending on what you want it's a maybe (if you're one of first few in line)

What store is this? Hard to believe big apple stores will have that kind of stock. Apple wouldn't launch the color with only 3-4 devices in each store.

I don't want to say which store because I don't want to get said manager in trouble. That being said it's a major city and he said the other store in our city has similar stock. The other one was one of the early stores (first 50 or so).

I'm in line at my apple store, have been since 630pm, and I'm first in line and when the manager came out to tell us how the night and morning are going to play out, he then was asking us what phones we were looking to get and he point blankly said "if you want a gold iPhone, or verizon in general" you might as well not wait at all and go home and order online at 3am EST

Going by what people are saying, and going by how many Apple stores there are in the USA, they will sell roughly 1,500 gold iPhones. I see they aren't going for any new records.

They do this every year- drip feeding the public for weeks to build demand - there are probably millions lying in some factory somewhere!
