Good Deal For A Macbook Pro?

the 1.83 ghz core duo version with leopard installed along with windows office

a lady i know said she would sell it to me for 500. Is this a good deal? Nothing is worng except some serface scratches on the lid

any help is appreciated as this would be my first mac

that seems like a fair price.
you won't find the 'pro' products cheap, ever. old powerbooks are selling for that price.

however. the core duo (as opposed to core 2 duo) is not a super fast processor.
it will get you by, and this machine will probably be a great introduction to the apple world.

Spec wise, not, but OS X is OS X and Windows is Windows and that's why it may feel faster

If don't have any issues with your current machine, no it won't be better.

But if you want the Mac, make sure you get the Office installation disks and software license.
Coming preinstalled without disks is good as selling stolen software.

she upgraded to snow leopard today so it has snow leopard on it now...does that make it any better..like i said im all new to mac

my pc has all kinds of issues....i get error screens all the damn time and it will jst shut down for no reason..i dunno its an acer...i dont know what makers are good anymore...i havent tried a mac i have trid almost all others so..im hoping macs are better

Sorry to hijack your thread, but rather than start a new topic I thought I'd just post it here since it's relevant. I'm working on this deal myself, and was hoping to get a few opinions.....

15" MBP
Core 2 Duo 2.8
4gb 1067mhz ddr3
500 gb 7200rpm hd
9600m GT 512mb

Hoping to get it for 1k, but it's $1300 atm. Has 2 years of applecare left (supposedly, haven't verified that yet though)

But 1300USD is quite a good price, 1000USD might be a little bit low though.
