Wisconsin der hey
i was thinking i should semi-retire my current Power Macintosh (see sig) and that a G5 would make a great computer for college.

i personally think that this is a great deal, a friend is selling it, and i wouldn't mind upgrading the RAM or GPU myself.

now, about the GPU. am i limited to what the Apple specifications say?

$700 - Mac G5
Power Mac 1.8ghz G5
512mb of RAM
150 GB Hard Drive
17" Apple Studio Display
QWERTY Apple Keyboard
Apple Mouse Pro

thanks for your opinions!

$700 seems a little bit high but value is in the eye of the beholder. Going from your PM to this will give you whiplash. :D

1GB of RAM should do you fine. Not sure on your video card options but the stock one should be fine.

well, the 17" monitor is a pretty good value when added to the computer.

it is in great condition, at least from what i've been told, and it's not like i'm buying it from some person i've never met before.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU like Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/420+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.0 Mobile/1A543a Safari/419.3)

that sounds like a great deal. G5s are still holding their value pretty well.

it's not that i have a problem with the 5500/225, i'm just looking in the future, lol.

it'd definitely be a great asset during and after college
