Good Deal or Not?

On my local craigslist, there is a listing for an Apple Powermac G3 400. This is what it says:

$200 or best offer people, this is just taking up space on my desk.

This is an Apple G3 400MHz Blue & White Desktope, 384mb of ram, 20GB hard drive, OS9 & OS X (10.2) loaded, upgraded Video Card. Also included on this machine is Macromedia Studio MX & Adobe Photoshop 7. This was my development machine for a few years but I have since upgraded to a new Apple and have no real need for two desktops."

This would be my first Mac and probably my last attempt to buy a used Mac before I get my iBook. Is this a good deal or not?

No, save up for the iBook. IMO, just wait a little longe and the iBooks will come.

Thanks. I wasn't really thinking I would buy it. My PC can hold out a little longer, or until the new iBooks come out.

Well, the way I see it is, you're over halfway towards getting your iBook. You want to set yourself $200 back to get an inferior, basically obsolete (by today's standards) computer to satisfy your taste for Mac OSX (it's not even Tiger!).

Patience is a virtue, my friend. The iBooks will come soon.

I just purchased the same computer (except mine had 512 RAM) for my parents. It runs Panther fine. They can only have about 4 or so apps open at once or it gets pretty bogged down. Else, it runs fine. $200 is a slightly better than average deal on this computer. Its not a bad buy, but it does push you further away from getting your iBook.
