Is this imac for $1410 a good deal?

24" iMac
2.16Ghz Core2Duo
1 GB Ram
250GB HD
SuperDrive
128 MB 7300GT Video Card

I want to edit mostly sd video and maby some hd video in FCP 6. Will a new 2.8GHz imac be worth it performace wise for another for another $800?
Thanks Spencer

You will want to add more ram. Also, the 256 mb videocard of the 2.8 is better. Despite that, the white iMac has a matte screen and a lot of people like that.

The price is pretty good, if it's brand new.

If I buy one at macmall I have to pay tax and shipping which adds about $200
I have the money for a new one, but do I really need it? If buy a new one they will just be upgraded again.

the white 24" is the last sensible iMac Apple made. Don't bother with anything newer unless they come back to their senses and reintroduce the matte screens.

I owned a Core Duo this year and it kicked ass - definitely my favourite computer - but I needed portability and had to get a MacBook instead.
