In the USA, there seems to be a healthy market for used Apple hardware. Sadly in the UK this declined severely after Apple stopped Amazon allowing used Apple hardware from being sold by "unauthorised" vendors. Ebay is too risky for high-value items.

Thanks to a recommendation elsewhere in macrumors forums I found MacBuyBack UK ( https://macbuyback.co.uk ).

I sold my 2015 MBP 15" as I now have an M1. I had looked after it and it also had a fresh battery and top case.

The service was quick and efficient - they pick up the laptop by courier (even in remote countryside here), and keep you posted on progress.

I got about 30% more as cash than what Apple was offering in trade-in value. The whole thing took about 10 day from start to payment.

They matched their initial quote offer and didn't try to haggle it down with unreasonable excuses.
