I prefer using this; firewire 400 or 800, & my mac mini only has 1 firewire 800 port.

are there any firewire ports that can support multiple firewire drives & give them enough power, so I dont have to have so many cords & cables on my desk, I have a mass of them now, as each external hard drive has its own cord.

I know I can daisy chain, but I dont like the idea of having to have one hard drive on that I do need to use to power the others in the chain, & it would be a mess if my power went out, it would zap down all the drives strung together.

I have the belkin and im pretty sure it drops the speed down because I dont seem to get FW800 speeds to my drobo.

so from my searches, it was the only one I found at a reasonable cost.
