I tried to download my photos and delete them from my phone.
I used the windows built in program to do this.
Download went ok but as soon as it tried to delete the photos on the phone.
CRASH!
It happened every time I tried.
Nice one apple, now we will have to wait for another update to fix it.
Hope this happens soon as I don't feel like deleting 400 pictures one at a time on the phone.

Unless the pictures are in the Camera Roll part of the Photo application, you can't delete them on the iPhone at all, one at a time or otherwise.

I can delete photos from phone. I hit the trash can and off it goes. Camera roll images that is. Others I have to remove from my folder and iTunes removes it at sync.

I am talking about the camera roll. I used to be able to download them from my iPhone and then the program would delete them all, if I checked the box.
Now since the new update to 2.2.1, if I try to have them deleted the phone does a hard crash and reboot (silver apple).

ahh i see what you mean
possibly a corrupt photos app?
try to restore firmware
that may fix it

This is on my list of things I hate about my iPhone. There is no reason we should have to sync to remove our photo library pictures. It should be done the same way Camera Roll pictures are deleted.
