Alright, I'm sure will see this as a ad, but that's not my goal. I'm considering giving up my powermac, and buying a new macbook pro, but I'm wondering where the best place to sell my quad-core powermac? I'm not sure how easily I'll sell it, and I'm not an experienced tech seller ( not sure if craiglist is the way to go for this puppy). Any tips?

Anyone have any idea on pricing? Quad, 2.5, 2 500gig drives, 16gigs of ram, one 22inch cinema display ( the acrylic one), and one 23 inch cinema display? Seems to me I should be in the low 3k range?

yeah someone will buy it for about $2500 if you leave it listed for awhile.
If you want a quick sale you will get about you could sell for something realistic like $1500 or so.
I would put $2700 or best offer and see if you get any bites.
Do not include the display, sell it separate.

You will have to eat the fees on eBay, but I have had pretty good luck on there.

I don't know why you would only want to sell a display in person either. For the record, I have successfully sold two displays on ebay, one being a 23 inch Apple Cinema Display, and I got good money and feedback for both. So from my experience, I would not discount ebay at all. Just make sure to double box the display in case you don't still have the original box and packaging (with the foam), because the face of the display can be very vulnerable to shipping.
Anyway, this thread caught my eye because I'm in the same boat as you too. I'm getting ready to sell my PowerMac G5 Dual on ebay once I get the time.
I don't think you'll get anywhere near $2700 for the G5, that's Octo Mac Pro territory
.$300-350 for the acrylic display and $450 for the Aluminum one is a good price. $1500 is a good price for your quad 2.5. You can get first gen Mac Pros for around that price.

But like already stated, selling on Craigslist for cash would be your best bet. You can always add a few hundred extra too and add best offer

I agree with OrangeSVTGuy's pricing but selling the displays on eBay is a LOT of shipping. And they do damage easily. That's why I said the displays on Craigslist and the PM on ebay. I think you'll get more money that way.

I can get a refurb current gen MacPro for $1,999 straight from Apple! I think whoever mentioned $2,700 has a severe mis-conception of how much used Apple hardware is worth.Do a 'completed items' eBay search and see what these things sell for. I don't know the exact specs of your system, but expect to get $900-$1300 for it, tops. Here's an example of a recently sold PowerMac:

Check ebay's completed listings for "quad 2.5 G5 ". You will get a whole entirely different number

Yes, $2K with both displays may be more realistic. And better hurry selling it - when Snow Leopard hits the shelves, G5's will drop in value even further ( presumably Snow Leopard will only run on Intel systems). For that reason alone, I personally wouldn't spend a penny on G5, as it's a dead end system.

With Craigslist it's normally just you selling the particular thing.

Go Craigslist or Kijiji first, then if it doesn't sell, lower the price a bit then put on eBay. The former two don't charge you a fee based on insertion or selling price, which is a huge bonus over eBay. I sold my b0rked G5 2.0 PM on Kijiji.ca within days of posting it. Just be honest in your ad and post several high quality photos -- don't post stock photos, that is a deterrant IMHO.
