Hi everyone,
I stepped into my university bookstore today, primarily to sell back my textbooks. I'm graduating this week so I figured it would be nice to look around one last time at the place. I went over to the tech area and I noticed they were having a sale: buy a Mac with AppleCare and get a free printer and Apple TV.
I've been saving up hoping to upgrade my PowerBook once I graduate, but this deal looked too good to be true. I asked one of the workers what the catch was and he said there were no rebates for the printer or Apple TV, and that I still got the student discount. They weren't the old models; they're definitely the new Sandy Bridge models.
So I jumped and bought a 13" MacBook Pro. Grand total was about $1600 with the student discount on the AppleCare and MBP. I've saved up more than enough.
I know this is a good deal price-wise because I checked the price on Amazon and even without sales tax there, it was slightly cheaper in the bookstore with tax. I guess I'm asking if I should have waited for Lion or waited for the eventual update at the end of this year? Maybe I just feel guilty leaving my trusty PowerBook behind. (I'm still typing this on that right now; I feel so weird having a brand new computer sitting next to me in a box). Or maybe I'm panicking about thermal paste issues.
Thoughts? Was this a hasty move or should I just sit back and enjoy the new machine?
Thanks.
