B&H has a particularly good price on the following configuration: i7 3.1, 256gb drive and 16gb memory. At B&H, it's $1,879, while the computer with the same specs on the Apple website is $1999. All the other macbooks on B&H"s website are only $10 or $20 less than the Apple price, so I don't know why the discount is so steep on this model (maybe a mistake?). At any rate, I just bought one. With the money I saved in tax on top of that, it seemed like a good deal.

It's because of the 256 GB SSD most people would want the 512 GB SSD .

In fact with those kind of specs the 256 GB SSD model could be a bottleneck.

Best Buy had the KILLER deal for someone who wanted the base 128GB model. Normally $1300 on sale for $1099, and could stack a 10% movers coupon. So essentially it was $300 off the 2015 base model!

That's actually an unusually good deal. I paid $1689 ($10 under Apple's price) with them for a 2.7/16/256 model, but my biggest motivation of course was saving on the sales tax. They charge a lot less for AppleCare, too ($174 vs. $249, I think).

Plus it comes with Parallels 10 if I'm not mistaken. I've found that B&H has really good Mac deals especially if you include the money saved on tax.

Agreed. Yes, they include Parallels 10 (forgot about that, LOL) and for me, they also threw in a free 12-month LoJack subscription. That plus the tax savings made buying from B&H a no-brainer. My machine arrived at my office in AZ 3 days after I ordered it with the free shipping option. :)
