My iPad 1 that I purchased the day they came out started having problems. It would randomly turn off and then back on, then give me the shutdown screen. It finally got to the point where it was useless trying to use it. I took a look at the new iPad 3, but could see shelling out $599 for the 32GB version, so I decided to spend the $250 for an out of warranty replacement. Made an appointment with the local Apple store and went in this morning for the exchange. Showed them what was happening and he said that doing the exchange was the best option. To my surprise he only changed me $99 for a battery replacement instead of t he $249. I walked away very happy.

This is way Apple continues to earn my business.
