In December I bought 2018 MBP i9, 32gb,1TB,vega 20. After putting up with issues for many months I finally headed into apple store to go through what I thought would be a lengthy repair process.
I had no time over the last few months as I needed it for uni and had to wait till semester break.
Over this time I had been screen shotting each crash, video glitch (garbled graphics) and at the time I took it in I had a kernel panic error log on the screen from the night before.
I had initially taken the computer in in January after video glitches however they could not rectify the problem after I left it with them for 24hrs.
The genius looked at my 30plus screen shots and said it was probably the logicboard, so they would repair the keyboard, logic board and battery.
I told him as a photographer any downtime costs me money, I had sold my iMac and 2012 MBP to throw everything into this investment which has let me down. I then mentioned I had already received one of the unlucky IPAD bent out of the box and was accused of doing it myself in their store, before apple came good and acknowledged the problem which was swapped at another store.
So I wasn't really expecting much support to be honest.
I mentioned all the problems I was having are extensively covered on MacRumors (plug) and that every now and then I have seen other forum members have upgrades to newer models. I said this is what would exceed my expectations. He went away for a long time and then came back with a straight face. I was sure he was about to say it would need to be repaired but instead offered me a replacement top spec 2019 which has been custom ordered. He did this and allowed me to keep using the flawed model while it comes in.
It made my day and restored a little faith remembering how apple always used to be. Good job apple store Carindale Brisbane Aus.
