Is now a good time to buy a 2011 refurb 13" macbook pro? I heard they will be changing the design to that of the macbook airs. I assume that they will be getting rid of the 13" pro and making the other pro's more difficult to upgrade.

If you feel like you want it, buy it. Especially if you need it now. If you feel like you can wait for a little bit, then go ahead and wait.

Yes.

Unlikely. Where did you hear that?

Why?

i think, as far as we know, new processors will be available in the spring and POSSIBLY a redesign of the macbook pro line. but, that is speculation, and it is sometimes the case that the redesign has issues that need to be worked out, so early adopters suffer a bit. if you can wait and gotta have the newest thing, then wait. if not, buy it now.

you haven't told us what you plan to do with it. have you considered the macbook airs?

If you need it get it now.

I dont know where you heard such BS about getting rid of them.

Well i know nothing of macs or apples upgrading cycle. I briefly recall reading some time ago that the Pro's next redesign will be a copy of the airs kind of wedge design.

This is good news for me. I think the extra weight is worth it for the ability to upgrade the RAM and the hard drive.

Thanks for all your guys's input!

I just got a 2011 Refurb MacBook Pro a few days ago and don't regret it. I honestly can't see Apple scrapping their 13" MBP range anytime soon.

MBA is for portability so portability > power
MBP is power> portability

Upgrading cycle for MBPs are once every year.
But no one knows the specific time frame.

Very few rumors actually come true, hence why they are called 'rumors' lol...
I would say wait if you want to see what comes out at the next refresh (might be a while though, nobody knows when) but this is a pretty safe time to buy.
