Just what the title says. I've got $850 and I don't want to spend anymore. Should I wait for Apple to get some refurbished new models in? This would take a while though right? Safe to buy now?

It's completely safe. Any MacBook that you buy will last you a very long time and they are not going to be slow in the future unless you don't take care of it. So yes, it is safe to buy a refurb. I have a 2.16Ghz non-SR and it's great. And you'll love it even more if it's your first Mac.

thanks for the advice. I think i'll go head and grab one. It'll be my second mac, and I hope a decent bit faster than my iBook G4 :)
