The 2011 mini is my 1st Apple product and I've been a Windows & Linux user prior. I want to get my games (World of Warcraft & Sims 3) into the mini but the Samsung USB 2.0 8x DVD Writer External Optical Drive for Mac/PC (SE-S084D/TSBS) that I got isn't doing well. Only the Sims 3 base game DVD installed, none of the expansions installed. Also, the drive took almost an hour to install the game.

Not sure if it is a Lion OSX issue or the Samsung device issue. I am also using a Belkin USB port hub w/AC power to save USB ports. Is it better to connect the external optical drive directly to the mini (thereby losing 2 USB ports?)

EA tech support thinks it is a Lion processes issue but I have 2.7 ghz i7 and 4gb RAM.

Recommendations for a reliable & affordable external USB optical drive?

I also plan on installing Windows using Boot Camp so it will require dvd writing.
