Any suggestions about "Goodreads" application? Is it good enough?
 
Not sure what you are asking for. The app is free… why not just download it and try it out yourself? It's like the website… gives you suggestions on what some good books might be.

does it also work with specialized books (example Java and .Net)?

I don't wish to register everywhere and find out the app is useless :(

As far as I know (and I haven't used it for a while), it is mainly for Fiction books such as those in the top seller list. Till the time you are not paying for registration, you lose nothing but 10 minutes of your time.
