Google is adding Dark Mode support to its Google Search apps for iOS and Android, with the new feature to begin rolling out tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. Pacific Time.

Google says that it wants to give search app users more options to customize their Search experience, and when Dark Mode is enabled on Android 10 and iOS 13, the Search app will be displayed in Dark Mode. The same goes for Light Mode, with the feature following the overall system settings.

Dark Mode can also be enabled or disabled using the Google app settings on iOS and Android, which enables Dark Mode for iOS 12 users as well as iOS 13 users.

Dark mode is rolling out on Tuesday, and Google says that it will be available to everyone throughout the week.

Still waiting for g mail app dark mode. What a joke. Every time I open it I get a flash of dark and then it goes bright white.
There is a trick to enable it.Try force quitting the gmail app about 4 times on the trot with dark mode enabled on your iPhone. It worked for me and once you’ve got it,it stays.Reply to this message if it works for you.

I call this grey mode.

I tried using it for a while but I couldn't my search results to be good as what I'd get with Google. Maybe I'll take another swig at in the future, totally love the idea.
Yeah, sometimes it is not that good, but for most of my searches it works.

I’ve been using DuckDuckDo all this 2020 and so far, so good. As I said when you want to check, for example, a local shop phone number you have to use Google, but DuckDuckGo has an amazing feature where you can directly perform the search choosing the search engine. In this case, you can begin the search with !g and once you go hit enter it will bring you to the google search outcome. Same for startpage (!s) Wikipedia (!w) and many more.

my gmail finally got updated with dark mode and files last week on my iPad and iPhone, there’s still some hope!

Incoming another “release” that will take Google doing a phase roll out on their backend for almost a year. Good to see all those billions of dollars working hard. Thanks Google.

Yeah I’m still waiting for Dark Mode in my Gmail app. Maybe by the end of 2020?

I don’t have dark mode in my gmail app yet. So i might got that Google Search Dark mode in 2022.

Yes that actually worked but it went to dark mode on the first force close it didn’t take 3 times. I didn’t think this, great trick. Thanks

However, it appears to only be a trick because once I force close it while it’s in dark mode it resorts back to white upon opening. But doing the trick again gets me dark mode back again. So thanks.

I have the latest g mail update version so maybe it’s that I’m on a 6s.

So, does it mean that if I use google.com in Safari it will still be light mode only?

Oh wow I didn’t know “!x” was a thing! I’ll have to try it out again

I'm good. I've been using Duck Duck Go for the past couple years and it's at least 90% as good without all the creepy privacy issues and supports dark mode in the browser. I keep Google open in a private tab in the background for when I rarely need it, and I use content blockers so Google is always confused as to where I am and what to market to me. The few times I've seen targeted ads when I've had to turn off content blockers, it seems to think that I'm a female lawyer in Arkansas/Kentucky or something weird like that. I'm a male web designer from Missouri. All according to plan…

I just got Dark Mode for my Gmail today. Yay! Been a long time coming.

What's weird is last month, I had Dark Mode on my Google app for a couple of weeks. Then it just magically went away. Hope it comes back -- I miss it. Wish more app's also had Dark Mode enabled (at least on iOS).

I felt the same initially when I started using it. I was back and forth until I took a full swing. Now it’s my default on all my devices/browsers. I’ve tried to use Google Search on a number of occasions and couldn’t believe what a cluttered mess it is. I’ve also gotten used to DuckDuckGo results, without all the unnecessary stuff. Occasionally, I use Google when I need a different angle to a search.

too bad I am slowly leaving google, actually only thing I now have is a gmail and that is for youtube. I still like android for freedom but I moved to ipad first then got a iphone and slowly left google products and apps behind
