is anyone else having an issue with a Google apps email account setup as an exchange account on your iPhone? Since yesterday afternoon I've been receiving an error message on myiphine saying The connection to the server has failed while I have the same account setup the same way on my iPad - both running iOS 8.4 - and haven't had any issues.

I have a GMail Exchange in use on my iPad Mini 3 and iPhone 6+ (both 8.4) with no issue and no warnings. I am assuming you have compared all the settings for the two accounts....
Does the error your seeing say something like "Cannot connect to imap.gmail.com"?
