Google apps selector grid broken in safari

Hi all
Finally taken the plunge and bought a MacBook Pro retina, for a short while the grid thing up in the top right on Google to select apps like YouTube, Drive etc worked but for the past week or two I click on it and nothing happens. It works in Firefox and Chrome, just not in Safari.

Anyone else having this problem? Any suggestions on how to fix it? Or is it a Google thing?
