I have my gmail account configured on my iPhone through Exchange / Google Sync and it works perfectly. I also had tried to configure my google calendar to push sync through google sync, but it was terrible: it would tell me what was on my google calendar, but whenever I tried to add an event on the iPhone client, it would actually just get deleted soon after. It seemed to be syncing only one way. I looked up the help files and at the time I remember thinking that this was listed as a limitation of google sync for iPhone.
I looked into it again recently, and now I don't see anything about this being a limitation. Does anyone else have google calendar syncing perfectly with the iPhone Calendar app? Did I have it configured wrong all along, or maybe has Google solved this issue since I last attempted to get my calendar?
I've read that iOS 4 has new support for Google Calendars, but I'm assuming that Apple is talking about through the standard google fetch account setup, not the Exchange account "hack". And I'm assuming that that this solution wouldn't wirelessly push syncs as the Exchange solution should be able to.
