Google chrome is not updating (error 12)

Does anyone know how to fix the update error with google chrome?
OS-10.6.7
Google Chrome version-10.0.648.205
error- update server not available (error 12)
switch to Safari ?
It's in reference to how you connect to the internet. Sounds like the answer is probably no.
Have you ever been able to get it to work? I've seen this error plenty of times but I'm always able to get it to download after messing around with the network settings a bit. I've always attributed it to being in China and something funky with the Great Firewall.

I done a little research on proxy and vpn and im not connected in that way.
i've tried connecting directly to the router and tried different wifi area's (Mc Donalds
) and i still can't get it to work

I've done what one of the guys has done and when i reinstalled it i went to about google chrome and it is the same version i had before. i clicked check for updates it said it is up to date but before i uninstalled it it said there is a new update?
but its working now and it can play youtube videosFix Chrome
