Google crashes Safari

So after losing my backup, I set up my iPhone 4 and tried to add the gmail safari app to the home screen like I had before. However, it came up as a plain white app and it was named untitled. Later when I tried, gmail would just crash in safari. It would hang for about three seconds and just exit out to the home screen. I've tried going to other websites--they work, but it's just google and gmail. A restart does nothing. =\ Clearing everything in settings for safari doesn't either. Any tips?
