If you cut and paste html into google docs (from a webpage) the formatted text and pictures appear. But are the pictures embedded in Google Docs or is it just an html pointer to the picture on the website?

Curious if the pictures will disappear if the website goes down?

I haven't used Google Docs in a while, but I remember being able to view the HTML of the document. You can check and see where the image is pointing by looking at the href portion of the img tag in the code.
