Google Fi Gains New $35/Month Unlimited Plan, Improved iPhone Integration

Google's cellular service Google Fi Wireless is today being updated with a new Unlimited Essentials plan, priced at $35 per month for a single line. The plan includes unlimited calls, text, and data, with 30 GB of high-speed data.

The new plan comes as Google Fi celebrates its 10th anniversary. Google Fi is an MVNO that uses T-Mobile's network, providing lower-cost service for smartphone users. When it launched, it was only available for select Android devices, but it has been available on the iPhone since 2018.

Other Google Fi plans are being updated alongside the introduction of the new plan. The $50/month Simply Unlimited plan is now Unlimited Standard, and it includes 50 GB of high-speed data, up from 35 GB, plus 25 GB of hotspot data, up from 5 GB.

The Unlimited Premium plan (formerly Unlimited Plus) includes 100 GB of high-speed data, up from 50 GB, along with 50 GB of hotspot data.

Google is adding support for data-only eSIMs, which means iPad users can sign up for Google Fi as a data option. Previously, Google had data-only options, but only for physical SIMs. Google Fi 5G coverage is expanding to more than 92 international locations for Unlimited Premium users, which more than doubles previous availability. International 5G connectivity is also now available on iPhones with Google Fi, so it is no longer limited to Android users.

iPhone users will also soon be able to listen to their Google Fi voicemails on the Phone app instead of being required to use the Fi app, thanks to new iPhone integration that Google is introducing.

Thanks for the info. I’ll stick with my $10 hack. $10 for 2GB data with US Mobile, sign up for the free 3GB with Helium on my other sim, swap data signal when the other runs out. Viola. Unlimited calling and texts with 5GB data for $10

Fi is a reasonable MVNO option, even for iPhone users. I currently have 4 lines, all iPhones on Fi (started off as all Android!). The service is good and everything is configured online through your Google account. I just wish they'd offer iPhone deals and Apple Watch integration - probably never going to happen. Their Pixel deals are excellent (i.e. the new 9A is $299 for Fi customers) and the strings attached are much more straightforward than the big carriers.

I had Fi for my previous service, but hated the separate voicemails and MMS issues. I wonder if the MMS issues were resolved with RCS, or period for that matter. I appreciated the data-only line not being a ridiculous price.

Still not competitive with US Mobile. For $32.50/month or $348/yr on their lightspeed network (T-Mobile). You get 10GB/month of intl data, 100GB high speed and 50GB hotspot.

I believe they did look into it back when Steve Jobs was alive but he ultimately nixed it.

I can’t speak for international travel but US Mobile is lovely. If you pick the unlimited plan you can choose from the big 3 networks on the fly. I opted with Verizon with their 2GB plan and i have zero complaints. In the years I’ve had them I’ve only had to top off data while on vacationing in Hawaii.

I remember when VZW redefined ' unlimited data ' to a 5GB soft-cap, and none of our awesome chosen officials uttered a word against the practice. Soon, ATT followed and the rest is history.. Words and terminology aren't what they used to mean anymore. Everything must succumb to some legal loophole to ensure the customers get bent over at some point while the "leadership" get generous golden handshakes!

Best is you can pay yearly for only $275.

I’m in NYC so it’s never been an issue with service levels or 5G availability.
