Google has released a new Apple Watch app for Google Calendar, bringing its native calendar and task functionality to watchOS for the first time.

As of version 25.24.1, users can now access a dedicated Apple Watch app that displays a simplified overview of upcoming events and Google Tasks directly on their wrist. The app presents a week's worth of schedule information in a list format, with each entry appearing as a color-coded card. Each card includes the scheduled time, title of the event or task, and associated location.

Tapping an item reveals additional event details, although the app does not currently support the creation or editing of events from the watch itself. A message within the app prompts users to open the Google Calendar iPhone app to view more.

Alongside the app, Google has also introduced two new complications compatible with watchOS watch faces and the Smart Stack. The first, labeled "What's next," is available in circular and rectangular formats and displays the user's upcoming appointment. When tapped, the complication opens the Google Calendar watch app and displays the corresponding event's details. The second complication, "Today's date," shows the current day and date in a small circular format and also serves as a launch point for the app.

Prior to this release, only Google Maps, YouTube Music, and Google Keep had dedicated watchOS apps. Version 25.24.1 of Google Calendar with Apple Watch support is now available on the App Store.

I guess Google finally caved after realizing they can’t monetize the calendar on the Apple Watch…sometimes we just need an app

Will be very useful for those using the services of Google. Good to see this finally on the watch. The addition of complications for the watch is a bonus!

Weird timing with apple watch apps scene being quite dead. But as a google calendar and Apple watch user I'm happily surprised.

Now I just need Whatsapp.

Go to the Watch app, scroll down to Available Apps and you can install Google Calendar from there.

I’m on WatchOS 11.5 and not seeing Google Calendar under Available Apps. Maybe I need to update G-Calendar on my iPhone?

Yeah, check your app updates on your phone. I got the Google Calendar update today and now it shows up in available apps in the Watch App.

Great for all watch users!

Only took them 10 years lol

Hope it doesnt take them 10 years to implement the liquid glass design

Good to have the choice, I suppose, but do Google Calendars have any functionality missing when used through the default Calendar app?

Super good news. My company doesn’t let us have our work calendars on the native iOS calendar app (it’s a side effect of some other security setting). I’ve gotten used to Google calendar on my phone but have been missing it on my watch.

My hope is that it doesn't have the issue I've been experiencing with the default Calendar app for a long time now, where the next appt. time from only one of my two calendars is displayed in the "Your Schedule" complication.
