Bottom line up front: how do I keep the location update in the Google Search app running so I do not have "reload" it each day?

I am probably one of the few people who likes the fact that Google tracks my location as I enjoy going into my location history and seeing where I was on a particular day/time. Before Google shut down Latitude, it was the Latitude app in iOS that submitted my locations to Google. After Latitude, I believe it is the Google search app that serves this function.

Before I updated to iOS 7 (with both Latitude and the Search app), it seemed like this service ran continually, keeping a constant record of my location. After updating to iOS 7, however, I find I have to reopen the Google Search app each day, or else, when I check my location history, I receive a message to the effect of no location reported for this day.

So my question is this: is there anything I can so that I do not have to reopen the Google Search app each day?

Thanks in advance.
