I noticed this before, but this weekend, I had guests in town and really needed to use the Google maps feature to get us from place to place.
I have an iPhone 4 and an iPad 3G/Wi-Fi. I ended up using the iPad, as it worked accurately.
The iP4 with the new software by contrast, has the new triangle icon. When I pressed it' it located me, but when double tapped didn't seem to connect with the compass to let me know which direction to head in. So I had to use my iPad, but I was with company so it was okay. I would prefer not to pull it out when alone, so any help would be great.
Even now, I double tapped my maps triangle icon, and it just gave me the twirling locator animation. This never happened on my 3GS. In fact, I didn't bother with any professional GPS because the Google maps app proved superior (as a pedestrian).
Am I the only one with this issue? If so, I'll take it to Apple.
UPDATE: A reboot solved it, but I'd prefer not to have to reboot when outside, lost.
