When looking at the same area on both chrome and safari then chrome already shows the new landsat 8 imagery but safari shows the old picture material.
Does anyone know if this is by design or am I missing something in safari settings?
 
You're not missing anything...

Slight detour. I hate Flash, it's not installed on my Macs. I keep Chrome around mainly for Flash videos of stuff. Over at ESPN, videos generally don't work in Safari - UNTIL I change the User Agent in the Develop Menu to an iPad. Then - gasp - the HTML5 videos load... :rolleyes:

Back to you. Yes, I've noticed it, the new image data and 3D renderings. Not only that, in Safari the "Satellite" layer option in Chrome is called "Earth". Open Safari and change the User Agent to Mac Chrome, and *both" the "Satellite" layer option changes to "Earth" AND the new, nifty stuff shows up. The same goes for Chrome and Safari in iOS...

So, yes, IMHO Google is browser-blocking Safari. 'Tards...
