Ever since I got the iPhone X about a year ago, I've had strange behavior with GPS, specifically with Google Maps. When I'm in turn-by-turn in Google Maps, the next turn is almost always way behind. For example, I could be on the highway and I'll make the next turn and and 10 seconds later Google Maps is still showing the turn I just made and will say the next turn is coming in like -1200 feet rather than moving on to the next turn.

I've had this problem since I got the iPhone X and I updated the iOS to 12. My wife's iPhone 6S does not display this behavior and I've had an iPhone since the very first one and I've never experienced this before.

I've uninstalled Google Maps and reinstalled. I've reset carrier settings. I've reset location settings. I don't know what else to try.

i just started having this problem with an iphone X that my dad handed down to me. the GPS fix is laggy, causing both apple maps and google maps to lock up intermittently. also the GPS fix jumps all over the place, and google maps in particular just keeps canceling the route cause it thinks i'm so far off of where i should be.

i reset my network settings (which i think also reboots the phone) and after that the GPS worked properly. however from googling this problem it sounds like it will work for a couple of days and then go back to bad GPS reception again.

apple support wants me to go thru all the nonsense of erasing the phone and setting it up as new to see if the problem persists. but based on the reboot/network reset, it could take days before it starts acting up again, so even in the best case i'll have to walk around with an empty phone for days before the problem manifests again. in the worst case they refuse to replace the phone because the GPS starts working when set up clean. but that's silly - i've restored backups all the way from iphone4 up to iphoneX with no problems at all, but they will ask me to believe that this time, my software environment is what's causing the problem.
