I don't understand why Apple hasn't built this in. Basically, imagine you are in a park with friends, and another friend is trying to find you (who just happens to have an iPhone too). You'd load up Google Maps, get your location, and "Share" the location's coordinates by SMS.
Apple lets you "Share" your location but it makes it a contact card with an address. But it doesn't use coordinates, just an address, so if you are in a park, or even just a restaurant, it'll use the postcode and the location shared won't be very accurate.
There is a paid app in the App Store that does this - but you have to create a user account (for whatever reason), and it's just another app I'd have to use. There's also a web app that lets you copy your coordinates, but for some reason, it is very inaccurate.
