CarPlay Google Maps turn on directions on HUD/second screen with iOS 18.4

Some cars show Apple Maps turn on directions on HUD (like BMW or VW). I expected that with iOS 18.4, as you can choose Google Maps as main maps app, now turn on directions through Google Maps would show on HUD too. Is that correct? If not, is it forbidden by Apple or Google does not want to add this functionality to iPhone users?
 
google hasn't added the code to their app to do it. Apple's documentation shows it's available.
