Before the limit was 20,000 so I had to pick and choose (I have 30k) which songs or albums I uploaded to the service.
Google Music is pretty much the reason I dropped iTunes Match. Why pay $25 for something Google let's me do for free, now with more tracks? It's also the reason I no longer backup my music to external hard drives.

Still not sure why Apple STILL limits users to 25k songs or why Amazon let's you use 250k(!!) so it seems completely arbitrary.

Google's taking a big step out in front of its music streaming competitors today. The company has just announced that effective immediately, you'll be able to upload up to 50,000 songs from your personal music collection and store them in the cloud through Google Play Music — all for free. The previous limit was 20,000.
