Ordered my first Apple Watch, I have a google Nest doorbell, is there an app on the watch to see the camera?

Looks like default Google Nest app only supports iPhone, iPad and Apple TV.

There is a 3rd party app though, but it costs some money.

I have the wired Google Nest doorbell. You'll get the notification that someone rang the doorbell along with a screenshot of the camera outside.

To talk and watch live video I believe you need to use the iphone.

The Starling Hub https://www.starlinghome.io/ can bridge Nest gear to HomeKit, making it easier to use with the watch (including live video). It’s not as perfect as if the doorbell had been designed specifically for HomeKit, but it’s pretty darn good.

Edit: will say, however, that the Home app for Apple Watch is horrible and very slow. Hoping it improves with watchOS 9.

Thanks, that does work. I didn't realize that provided a camera feed for Homekit on the watch! I've used it for ATV. I guess the advantage of the watch is to answer the front door with your watch.

I did add an edit to the above, that the Home app for the watch is very, very slow and sometimes fails to respond, while the phone continues to work fine. Hoping it improves with watchOS 9.

does Apple put up barriers for say Google to release Google Home on the watch or is that Google not wanting to invest in making the watch version ?

Nest had an Apple Watch app for a long time. After Google bought them it removed the watch app claiming people didn't use it. I used it all the time to adjust the thermostats.
