Google Photos app freeze

Just updated to ios 16.2 from ios15 and the Google Photos app now freezes for about 20 secs whenever I go to the Library view. This is a new behavior. After the library of albums finally shows, I can tap an album to view the photos within no problem. When I go back to the library page it takes another 20 secs. Going back to the photos view is normal.

I tried deleting the app and reinstalling but no change.

Anyone else see this and know a fix?

I see this happening in all apps who access the whole photo library if you have a huge one (with many thousands of photos). It started happening with iOS 16.0 for me, and I also see it in Snapchat, Instagram, all of those. They never fixed it.
