This just started happening doesn't happen on my computer it's weird.

I think maybe it might be google? I'm searching say "Espn Lakers blog" in google, and click the first hit which is it BUT instead of going to the site it redirects me to google.

It was funny to read this post. I actually encountered the exact same thing a few days ago. I'm not sure what the reason was. I was, at the time, traveling for work and bouncing around on a lot of random Wi-Fi networks so maybe something got confused along the way?

It was quite bizarre – but eventually resolved itself – and I haven't seen it since.

It would be interesting to know if there was a specific cause for this issue.

A browser cache issue causes this. Clear the cache or wait long enough for it to expire and normal Google operation should resume.

Happened to me also a couple of days ago on my new iPad. Eventually I force closed Safari and when I started it back up it was fine.
