I'm interested in making some powerpc content.. mostly gaming type stuff on youtube.. but in order to do so I need to be able to record my screen... any good FREE screen recording software? All post production will be done in final cut express or Imovie so i have no intentions of having it bundled with "premium" features if possible..

and to that end,.. any good capture cards for that are compatible with the g5? SD would be acceptable although HD is preferred, I aim to record ps4/ps3/X Box gameplay as well. :)

I think you can record your screen using QuickTime on a mac

I just checked my PowerMac G5 with 10.5.8 and in QuickTime Player, there is an option for 'New Movie Recording' if you have the PRO version.

Nevermind what I wrote. That feature is for recording from a camera, not for screen recording.

New movie recording, i tried it ealier and I believe its webcam only unless i messed up horribly.

Do a search for EchoFX's VideoGlide Capture software. It can drive various video capture devices that are out on the market. I've used it (and its previous incarnation, USBVision) for going on a decade now.

Your output will be 640x480 using composite (red/yellow/white) cables.

In the past, Copernicus has been recommended:
