Google Sync/Exchange e-mail hangs...

I'm used to my Droid which automatically pushed my gmail, and my work Blackberry. I set up my iPhone with Gmail as an Exchange account.

Works great for the first couple hours, then it will randomly just hang up, the little spinning "Thinking" icon will appear in the top status bar, and no data functions of the phone will work. App store doesn't load, can't browse, if I open e-mail, the status will say "checking for mail..." and the status bar just spins and spins. Eventually, usually 5-10 minutes later it will actually update and be okay.

Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Having similar gmail issue

I set my gmail up through Exchange as well. It worked yesterday, but is not receiving emails today (or when it does, it's several hours later). I seems like other are having an issue as well.

Stupid question. Do the emails go thru Microsoft if i use the exanche setting on my idevice?

No, they go to google's server m.google.com

Now if only I could set up Mail on my Mac as Exchange with Gmail!
