I have a dumb and simple question.
Does google talk allow you to IM someone on AIM?

Yes. Google just announced recently that they are integrating the ability to login to AIM accounts via google talk, and then chat as if it is any other AIM client. So, you can IM people on AIM via google talk, but not with your google talk screen name; you need an AIM screen name.
