I wish people used Google+ instead of facebook.

Sadly, it was created and then left to die....

I really don't see the big deal here. You can input anything you want and you can delete the page after signing up if you want.

Nothing's going to kill you to have a Google+ Profile with only your name on it that you never use. Oh the horror!

Is it ideal? No, but I can't say I'm surprised. They are all Google services after all. What really irritates me is other services using Facebook as a login.

Spotify?

I'd use it... except I refuse to use facebook as my login.

I'm glad I got in on the beta before that was the case. Since then I have linked it up with my Facebook though, not sure if there's any way to go back. I just hit Private Session if I really don't feel like sharing my music sessions.

I'm not sure how I feel about Facebook commenting systems on websites. In some ways it removes the spam and trolls, but one can easily make a bogus Facebook profile these days. Also sites lose the ability to moderate those comments - simply flagging/reporting them doesn't guarantee any action (let alone quick action). Perhaps the trade off of (probably) less spammers and trollers offsets that, though.

Did not realise that Spotify now makes you sign up with a Facebook account. I've had it for ages, but don't want Facebook integration so I've never connected them.

Yep, started with their US launch. They knew people would eat it up.

I've embraced Google+ as a place to put photos which has been much easier to use than my personal website. I don't mind the "real name" issue -- I've always gone by my real name, probably because when I first used the Internet 30+ years ago nobody used pseudonyms as that would have been considered bad form. If you want to know my full name, just clock on my name and visit my website.

I was spooked out by Facebook when I signed up (being forced by another site that required a Facebook login ) and had it immediately present me with a long list of people I might know, and indeed knew at least a hundred of them. How did they know considering I never gave them any history? Scary.

**** google+, i dont need yet another social networking site.

go ahead and create one linked to my gmail if you want google, it doesn't mean i'm ever going to use it.

I just hate how Google is shutting down Picnik and moving their services to Google+ in a few months!

The option is there, but you don't have to use your
Fb login to get into
spotify. I've never done it. I don't use my FB login for anything. I feel like they know too much already. I spend more time on G+ these days

All thats going to do is generate millions of empty, abandoned Google+ accounts that have nothing on them but the person's name (not even that if they use a screen-name).

I've seen plenty of services that allow you to log in with Facebook, but I've never run across a single one that requires it.

I recently wanted to sign up for a free trial of Netflix. To my surprise I found that I couldn't as the sign-up page had a Facebook login area and no other text-entry fields. I searched and searched the site for a "regular" sign-up page—to no avail. I finally called Netflix. I explained that I wanted to give their service a try but I couldn't find anywhere to sign up without a Facebook login. She said that she couldn't help me—until the cross-promotion with Facebook ended that was the only way to join Netflix. By the tone of her voice, her exasperated sighs, and the words she used I could tell that they were receiving a lot of complaints.

Ugh, Spotify. It's one of the worst offenders for Facebook integration. They force the Facebook login, then try to force you to give them permission to make posts on your wall. They call them "social features" but they're just spam. It's just as bad as Farmville or other Facebook apps/games that flood the news feed with junk.

I liked the idea of linking my Facebook + Spotify, I like to see what my friends listen to ;)

I don't.

Why do you trust google with your data more than facebook? Google already has enough of our data, I'd rather it be spread about.

I personally only use facebook to keep track of events and google+ doesn't really support that at all, it's all about socialising online when all I care about is using social networking to co-ordinate socialising in the real world.

I really don't see how google+ is preferable in any way.

Just Mark Zuckerberg throwing his money around.

Be patient, or he will win-out.

How peculiar - I read your post, went to Netflix.com, and saw this page - no mention of Facebook at all. Even when I clicked for details of the trial offer, there was no mention of Facebook.

Exactly. I am glad I got in just before that happened. I did not have to use FB.

As for G+, they can suck it. They suspended my profile because I didn't use my entire last name.
