Google Voice question

Hi. I am using google voice with talkatone to make phone calls with my iPad. This it has been doing flawlessly. However, I have been having trouble setting up the texting part of it. I can send a text, but cannot receive them. Texts go to my email first, then I need to close talkatone and reopen it to see the text on the text screen. Is this some sort of bug or is it not set up properly?

Have you tried using the actual Google Voice application?

I use Talkatone for voice, and GV Connect for text.
