No it won't happen. ...It would break antitrust laws and the company would be split again before the two CEOs ever had a chance to shake hands.

I've heard that Microsoft's $44.6 billion offer is not the last and they will raise the price. And I'm sure they will take Yahoo! up. This situation can't bring nothing to Microsoft as it big and powerful and will get what they want.
I don't know what alliance with Google will bring to both companies. Force union? Well, maybe. But I'm not sure what is better for Yahoo!: to be sold to Microsoft and snatch a large sum or to stay in business with Google and continue to get profit (don't know what profit). Of course it is better to make alliance for Google to prevent huge Microsoft as a direct rival. Microsoft need this acquisition to strengthen its position on the market getting large share on the advancing Internet market.
The deal is going to be historical as it will change the market completely.

Regardless of if either party actually wanted it to happen, no competition commission in their sane mind would ever allow it, and rightly so.

Absolutely.

Maybe a combination of only a few characters of the company names?

Gah!

:)

There may be a better chance of Microsoft and Apple merging. Google wouldn't merge with yahoo anyway, google would just buy them outright.

In Yahoo's dreams.

They may work together on some specific items, but a merger? Yahoo has nothing to offer Google, really - If Googles wants they just make it themselves. The company is creative enough, and enjoys enough cash-on-hand to come up with stuff themselves... albeit I don't like the company but there it is.

Yahoo + Google: Not gonna happen.

I hope it does happen, or Micro$oft will buy it, as they have a lot of money to throw around! I will have to change my broadband provieder, as I use Yahoo! broadband and dont want:

The Microsoft Internet service is unavailable

I was thinking about this when I got up this morning. They would use the Yahoo Services (except replacing Y!Mail with Gmail, Y!Maps with Google Maps) and use Google as the search engine. I'd be all for it, as long as they restored anonymous searching as default.
