When I click on the link it says "Sorry but we don't seem to be compatable."

I am running Safari 1.2.2 the current version. Oh well, I don't have G-mail anyway.

The link is only to a page that one would get to if they were using an unsupported browser. https://gmail.google.com/gmail/browser_requirements.html

Remover /browser_requirements.html from the url and just go to
https://gmail.google.com/gmail

You will see that you go to the Gmail sign in page. I can't do more than that because I don't have Gmail either. But the point is that the link was just to show you that Safari is listed as a supported browser.

Pathetic

This is just pathetic.

People are proud to be able to open a web page?

If google can't make web pages which I can access with any browser i like, they are just stupid.

GMail is done entirely in java and built around IE, ya know, the worlds most used browser. It worked with Safari since day one, but untill further tests, they didn't want to say it worked 100%.

I have a GMail account and use Safari and it still has lots of bugs. And perhaps I joined GMail minutes before they announced Safari support, but when I set up my GMail account yesterday, Safari was not an officially supported browser. You can still use it, like I do, but lots of bugs...

Building around a single browser/platform is lazy - there are standards for web development that allow for independence from one browser or another. They used a browser sniffer (more laziness) to keep Safari users out - kinda tough to verify that it would work in Safari at all.

Gmail has many accessibility issues to work out.
