iPad GoPhone sim in Verizon IPad Air?

As the title says, I have a Verizon iPad Air. I swap sims between my work iphone and a Gophone sim. When I put the Gophone sim in the iPad, it doesn't work and kicks me a message that I need to subscribe to a data plan.

The GoPhone sim works perfectly in my work Verizon iPhone 5 however.

Does this sim need to be provisioned by Gophone to work in a tablet?

I've read all over that the new iPad is in fact one model, sim swappable between T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T, so the Gophone sim should work.

You may have to change the APN settings to mirror the APN settings on your phone so it isn't trying to connect to the network as a tablet. You want the network to see it as a phone.

May be a silly question, but how do I change the iPad's APN settings without it being jailbroken again?

On your ipad, open safari and go to the following site. It should help you set up your ipad for the GoPhone carrier.
