With that Netflix player do you have to pay a monthly fee to keep getting movies? or do you just pay the $99 to buy it and have free movies forever after that? That thing looks pretty cool.

CHEAPER ALTERNATIVE:

I have a laptop (HP Pavillion DV9220US) with HDMI in/output so I don't have to buy the box :D I call it crApple TV since it is windows based.

Although if I didn't have this computer I'd more than likely be buying the box along with you.

the netflix thing is cool, but in spring, xbox 360 will be updated so it can download netflix content as well, so ill just wait :D

I got mine today too, I'm in love with this machine. I have one stuck pixel though, it's light blue. Anyone got any ideas to fix this?

I'm expecting a package too. Canon Rebel XSi yay :)

I always love stalking the door for the delivery guy, so much fun isn't it?
I lucked out he was at my door at 8.45 Am, no stalking this time.

I laughed pretty hard at this comment :D

To the OP, is this your first Mac? Either way, congratulations and welcome to the community. Enjoy your new toys :D

I have been using macs many years, but had a bad Air, so switched to a PC for a sort 8 months, was going to wait and get a new release butreally happy i didnt wait, after the free back to school offer and selling the ipod, I paid 699.00for the low end macbook, even sent it to my NH addy to avoid taxs, just bought 2G of ram for 22 bucks on ebay and I am set.

I pay a fee for some movies, 9.99 a month for 2 disc and get unlimeted movies on the box

We do the $8.99 a month plan. I love having movies delivered to our door.

The "instant view" for movies is great if you like documentaries or a Columbo movie you missed. Otherwise it is slim pickings!

Its really not that bad, and for free you cant complain.

I think it's delusional to say that it is free. You do pay and like most everything in life there is a cost associated. I believe Netflix stated several years ago that it would run at break-even in order to accumulate as much market-share as possible against the like of Blockbuster and others.

And my point is that no one can say that what is available to view instantly is new or prime time. You get the occasional new title but it is few and far between. I just hope Netflix will increase the quality of the titles they offer because right now it is lacking.

And didn't you pay $99 for your Roku? Doesn't sound free to me. But if it works for you...Awesome!

Its free to me as I never watch the free ones i get on the computer, I have a 42" in the living room so why watch it on a 13" I laugh at those who do.

I got the box free, so I am happy but would pay twice as much :)
I never could see why anyone would would prefer a 13" screen to a tv, unless you are traveling or a student.

Got my package of RAM!!! 2gbs is really workin for me, probably about 70% less fans then before. usually with Firefox, mail, ichat and, quicksilver, fans were at 4250-5200 RPM. Now im running 1800 RPM with all that and itunes, and getting an hour to two hours more battery life:).
