OMG!! Just a bad PSU or something? Was it old?

Anyways, I love my M1 MacBook Air (upgraded to 16 GB of RAM), it's a nice machine! I think you'll find that even the base model with 8 GB of RAM is quite capable (although be prepared to run into swapping!)

An interesting replacement for a gaming pc lol. you plan to keep this or resell it after your gaming rig is back together?

Joining U.S Army somewhat soon and don't want to put anymore money into before I leave since won't be using it anyways. And trying to decide if I want to get a m1 pro mbp as main computing device using this as a test run

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at just how performant the 3 year old "base" macbook air is with the M1 in it.

The leap from intel processors in the air to the M1 was HUGE.

Oh if this is your first mac, try not to get too frustrated whilst adjusting from Windows. A lot of the ingrained brain damage knowledge you have from the way Windows works doesn't apply.

The big thing is you need to keep an open mind and second guess the machine less; my advice coming from windows is to try to trust the machine to do the right thing most of the time, unlike in Microsoft land where you constantly need to babysit/check the damn machine did the thing you told it to do, etc.

I've run Windows (still do) a lot longer than i've run macOS (30 yr for Windows, 18 for macOS) and there was definitely an adjustment period.

Don't expect to do any gaming on it, at least not comparable to a gaming PC.

Seasonics PSU's are suppose to be or reguarded as good power supplies but I've also had one die and since switched to other brands with better success. Just need to do a bit more research on who makes the actual PSU.

its a good machine to test run and I think you'll be pretty surprised by how well even the base m1 air performs. I was a pc guy all my life until I got my m2 air last year and I never touch my other laptop.

Do you have access to the base PX/AAFES/NEX yet, I picked up a base 13" MBP for $764.00 as they were trying to move them out on clearance...
Its a great way to get "year old models" new, at good prices!
