I just bought a new refurbished iMac, and apparently it doesn't have any Firewire 400 ports, only 800. All the Firewire devices I have now are Firewire 400, so is there any type of Hub or adapter I can buy that will let me plug them into the firewire 800 slot?

Yes there are a variety of Firewire 400 to 800 adapters on Amazon.com, and Newegg.com. Just search "Firewire 400 to 800 adapter." Or you can buy a Firewire 400 to 800 cable.

Yes, you just need the 800 --> 400 adapter. Try Newegg, or Amazon or Apple.com.

EDIT: MacMini beat me to it!

Please search. This one is easy. Search google or amazon for "firewire 800 to 400 adapter"

In other words, yes, there are plenty of adapters. Any will do just dandily. Now, go find them. I am sure others will be here soon to lend opinions...

Yes I found the adapters before (thanks anyways ), but I was asking more about hubs, not just single adapters. Are there any hubs that I can plug multiple firewire 400 devices into and then have it plug into a firewire 800 port?

You could look for both a FW400 or a FW800 hub.

Personally, I would go with a FW800 hub if you can find one that you like. That way between the hub and iMac you will have FW800 bandwidth so it will service your multiple devices faster than a FW400 hub.

Possibly this one or this one. Not cheap, but options nonetheless.
