got a taurus HDD that make loud startup noise

2TB (2 x 1TB) , set at RAID 1

when i turn on my external hard drive it makes loud somewhat grinding noise for about 5 seconds then appears to work normally and sound normally. dont have any problems turning it off.:confused: need help please. sounds like its going to break.
