Perhaps Apple should look into a better notification system for firmware updates-- it is kinda annoying to be interrupted by an AT&T text message telling me that I should go grab a firmware update I already have.
Perhaps a exclaimation-point indicator over the Settings icon, or something?
Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5F136 Safari/525.20)
I didn't get a text from AT&T this time. Did anyone get this message after they updated?

Yea, I know a huge minority have no clue that there is an update for their iPhone. I see it everyday when I sell an iPhone or someone comes in with one.
isn't that a contradiction...?
That "huge minority" should get caught up gradually over the next 2 weeks, when iTunes automatically checks for new software and lets them know about the update.
oh cmon man.. a text message is that annoying? please.
Yep, got mine about 4:00pm today in California. My brother in Hawaii (T-Mobile unlocked, jailbroken) didn't hear from anyone and he's afraid to download 2.1 firmware. He'll wait until 2.1 firmware is unlocked and jailbroke...
